My lilac tree had an Easter present for me this morning.
That would be one little lilac blossom that's opened on the series of buds I've been watching for a while now!
Everything else seems to have sprung into action as well.
In other household news, two of Andrew's new beer batches have been conditioned to the point where they're ready for drinking. We tried some yesterday and they're both delicious---he made an IPA and an amber. So that means it's finally party time, and we're planning that now.
This week for lunches I'm all excited about making kale and sausage whole wheat pizza, chana masala, baked sweet potatoes with coleslaw/collard greens/BBQ pork on top (!!!) and a curried lentil dish.
On the tech front, I bought a Kindle this week after reading that Amazon has finally announced that it will be possible in the nearish future to 'check out' library books. This was the feature I was waiting for. And it's kind of a relief, because I'd been holding out on buying an e-reader until that was standardized---but next on my reading list is War & Peace and I had no idea how I was going to make that work on the subway. I'm so glad I won't have to haul around big books anymore, and I'm looking forward to not finding super gross stuff in between pages. At one point in the fall, I thought very seriously about starting a blog called Gross Stuff I've Found In Library Books, but then I realized that I don't have that much free time. I won't miss wondering if what I'm looking at is a crushed insect, bodily fluid, or food particle!
