I can't believe it's already fall and I'm dipping into my sweaters and boots. Well, I've not done too much dipping into them in the last few days, since it's been in the mid-to-high eighties. But I've unearthed all that stuff and even had a chance to wear a light jacket last weekend. Bring it on, Mother Nature. I love the fall in NYC; it's absolutely stunning.
What I'm into for October is vintage kaleidoscope dresses. I own the one above, as well as another one I got for $32 (including shipping!) at Etsy a while back with a grey background. They're pretty unusual in NYC, where neutrals and dark colors still predominate for workwear. I get comments on the subway a lot, and some friendly stares. For some reason, they feel like autumn to me.
I have a new cocktail to share: The Cherried Brandy. It's a wee bit of brandy with Tart Cherry juice from Red Jacket Orchards, a local grower who sells amazing produce through Fresh Direct here in the NYC metro area. Their juices are great. I'm very partial to the aforementioned Tart Cherry Nectar and their Apple Cider, which I also have in my fridge right now.
Aside from that, I'm reading For Whom The Bell Tolls, Things Fall Apart, The Song of Roland, and The Girl Who Played With Fire (I like to keep up with books the permeate the culture as well as ones no one else is reading). Lots of amazing meals planned for this weekend--healthy and delicious. Will definitely post some recipes and results!
